The addition of the beamed wood ceiling was designed for
maximum impact and the richness of stained wood without an
excessive expense. An entry closet was built in conjunction with
an audio video center which allows for rear access to equipment.

A built-in computer desk and bill paying station with file drawers was
added to the end of the kitchen with a view of the TV and beyond to
the courtyard outside, eliminating the need for the extra furniture.
The large pantry closet and refrigerator space in the kitchen can
also be seen in the picture below, with the retail space beyond.

The request for an abundance of
bookshelves resulted in a wall of
adjustable shelving with closed storage
below and a display ledge above. The
design of the desk also allowed for
adjustable shelving on the backside.

The request of outside space suitable for container
gardening, and a small inside dog to get out and enjoy
some sunshine led to this courtyard.

The courtyard was also designed to meet the need
for off street parking and convenience to the living
quarters when unloading groceries, etc..
Considerations were also given to some privacy
from the sides while trying to maintain air circulation.

Several lighting options were installed as well
as a power supply for a water feature. For ease
of cleaning it was determined to be all concrete
for water hose or leaf blower.

After about 9 months, including a few delays
waiting on subcontractors, we handed her the
keys to her lifelong dream. We do not believe
she was disappointed with the wait, as opposed
to buying something and moving in 9 months
earlier. She ended up with a place built just for
her, comfortable, accessible, a perfect fit for her
and her dog.

As you probably noticed though the space does appear to be empty. After 2 plus years of enjoying the reality of
her dream, age and health among other things that we all get to go through in life, forced a hard decision for her
to make leaving behind her new found friends and neighbors. This property is no longer listed for sale.
